David Carson
CEO / President · Chemical Dynamics
David Carson is President of Chemical Dynamics, the Plant City company his father, W.B. "Hap" Carson, founded in 1973. David finished his Bachelor of Science at Samford University in 1980 and came to work for his father that September. Ten years later he took over as President, and he has now spent 46 years carrying Hap's company forward.
Some of what he inherited, he kept exactly as it was. Hap insisted on testing every raw material coming in and every product going out, and that rule still holds at the plant today. Other parts David built himself. The SOAR line launched in 2002, the company started cotton research in the Mid-South in 2014, and in 2023, Chemical Dynamics' 50th year, it moved into turf and ornamentals.
He has followed his father outside the plant, too. Hap chaired the Florida Fertilizer and Agrichemical Association in 1990, and the FFAA elected David to the same seat in 2000. He still serves the association as a director. David is also a Certified Crop Advisor, credentialed through the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America.
David's sons, Ben and Nathan, now work alongside him, making three generations of Carsons at Chemical Dynamics. The company Hap started out of his home is still family-run and still in Plant City, and it's still taking care of the growers who have trusted it for more than 50 years.
